Area of Expertise: Your Customers - Their Journey, Ideation & Innovation Karen has a talent for strategy and innovative problem solving that has been honed by 30 years of experience. As PlaceWorks’ Managing Principal of Design, she leads an immensely talented team of urban designers, site planners/designers, landscape architects, and planners to imagine and produce highly creative plans and designs that are as workable and implementable as they are unique. Over the years, she has developed a solid practice and portfolio in transit-oriented development (TOD), urban infill development, and corridor revitalization projects. Her experience includes all facets of comprehensive planning and design for private/public sector clients. Karen has led more than 40 specific plans, including the recent Tustin Legacy Specific Plan and Beach Boulevard Specific Plan in Anaheim. She has worked extensively with the Western Regional Council of Governments (WRCOG) on sustainability and transit planning projects, including the Sustainability and Economic Development Framework Plan. She has prepared dozens of long-range conceptual plans to reposition large areas and commercial corridors within cities throughout Southern California. |
