Dr. Alberto Pimentel Jr is a Professor of Sociology and Co-Coordinator of Distance Education at Los Angeles Harbor College. He serves on the Academic Senate, Distance Education Committee, Dreamers Committee, and the Faculty Hiring Priorities Committee. Dr. Pimentel also serves on the Advisory Council for the Higher Education Leadership Empowerment Network (H.E.L.E.N) within the USC Viterbi School of Engineering and on the Finance Council at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
Previously, he served as a teacher, college counselor, and Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at a STEM high school that catered to students coming from low-income communities. In addition, he served as an academic advisor at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and as a member of the Program Reading Committee for the Coca Cola Scholars Foundation and Pride Foundation. He earned a doctorate from the USC Rossier School of Education, an MA in Sociology from CSU Dominguez Hills, an MPA in Public Administration from CSU Long Beach, and a BA in Sociology from CSU Los Angeles. He is also a proud product of East Los Angeles College. Dr. Pimentel is currently studying at the University of Missouri-Columbia and is completing a graduate degree in Learning Technologies and Design with an emphasis in online education.
