Debra A. Johnson is the Deputy Chief Executive Officer with Long Beach Transit.
A transformative leader with diversified, progressively responsible transportation experience, Debra has coached, motivated and developed teams; established business systems, processes and organizational structures; increased agency efficiency, strengthened financial results; and enhanced system safety and service quality. Debra is an alumna of civic leadership programs in San Francisco and Long Beach, and the Eno Center for Transit Leadership’s Executive Development Program. Debra is a lifetime member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She is also an active member of transportation industry-based associations including Conference Of Minority Transportation Officials (COMTO), Southern California, Women’s Transportation Seminar-LA and the California Transit Association. She is a charter member of the Zero-Emission Bus Resource Alliance, and serves on the Downtown Long Beach Business Alliance Board of Directors. In 2014, she was appointed by former Transportation Secretary, Anthony Foxx as a member of the US DOT Intelligent Transportation Systems Program Advisory Committee. Ms. Johnson has also received numerous awards and recognition for her work within the transportation industry, including the “Women Who Move the Nation” award from COMTO in 2019. Debra has a Bachelor of Arts, International Relations from the University of California, Davis, and a Master of Public Administration from California State University, East Bay. |
